STEWARDSHIP

Since graduating from A&M, Louie has been in the business of managing large financial transactions.  Starting out as a commodities trader for ADM, he was trading hundreds of millions of dollars a year in grain before returning to Texas.  Today he is a fiduciary managing over $100 million in client assets.

Louie is a strong proponent of life long learning and continuous development.  He is currently enrolled in a 2 year program for Leadership Development at Dallas Christian College in cooperation with Compass Academy.

Prior to becoming a trustee, Louie was heavily involved in the 2016 GCISD bond package.  As a trustee, he has maintained active participation in fiscal management of district capital funds and operating budgets.  Some recent examples were his personal inspection of roof and attic HVAC chillers identified for replacement in campus buildings, inspection of the Ag Barn project, and underwater inspection of the tile replacement project at the Swim Center (Natatorium) on Pool Road.  Dedicated stewards are often said to go above and beyond what is required.  Louie goes above, beyond, below, behind, around – whatever it takes to keep GCISD a quality district!

Prior to serving as a Trustee, Louie was on the GCISD Excellence Committee from 2008 to 2011, on the LEAD 2021 Committee in 2010 and 2011, a member of the Heritage Elementary School Campus Excellence Committee in 2012 and 2013, a Director of the GCISD Education Foundation from 2013 to 2016, and Co-Chair of the GCISD Facility Innovation & Readiness Stakeholder Team in 2015 and 2016.

Elected to the GCISD Board of Trustees in 2016 and again in 2019 Louie has maintained his commitment to excellence both individually as a Trustee and for standout results in the district.  In 2018 during his first term he served as a Committee Member on LEAD 2.0 and completed his one year training to achieve Master Trustee status.  Only a few hundred of over 10,000 Trustees have achieved this status in Texas since the program started in 1993.  Louie is one of three Master Trustees in GCISD.

In 2018, GCISD was recognized across Texas as School Board of the Year.  Louie is committed to every student’s success and to the breadth of programs in GCISD.  Above, Louie is seen receiving recognition for his support of the SOAR (Students Occupationally and Academically Ready) program.
